Well indeed it is
about time. The international community of regulators and rule makers
have finally realized that despite the attempts of Big Sugar, Big
Pharma and Big Artificial, Stevia, the small sweet tasting perennial
plant from South America, will have a place in mainstream markets
after all. Bogus studies, rumors and outright lies seemed to have been
enough to keep this plant at bay for many years. With over seven
hundred studies showing its safety, and millions of Japanese citizens
consuming substantial amounts of Stevia for over 30 years with zero
health concerns or complaints (unlike Aspartame) those small cracks in
the wall have now become holes.
The writing on the
wall appeared at the June 2004 meetings of The Joint Food and
Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and The World Health
Organization in Geneva. Stevia had always been denied an Acceptable
Daily Intake level in the past due to insufficient safety studies. The
information available in 2004 was positive enough to have a temporary
ADI of 2mg/kg body weight assigned to Stevia, with more information to
be provided by 2007. That information is coming and it is now only a
matter of time for full Stevia approval as a food additive. It will
never be clear sailing though, and we expect back room lobbying,
coercion, and payoffs to keep certain authorities and governments
throwing baseless doubts and concerns about Stevia's safety as
roadblocks. There are however emerging heros in this war. They are
Government officials, whistle blowers, and good moral people in
positions of authority, who realize the wonderful benefits for mankind
this small plant can provide. The big players would be supporters too
if you could patent the plant, and some giant corporation are trying.
We know who you are.
Countries and
companies are also planning for the Stevia revolution. The dying sugar
cane industry, the seven year Ramazzini study on Aspartame, Epidemic
Obesity and Epidemic Diabetes are all combining to turn everyone’s
attention towards the obvious solution - Stevia. No calories, no
carbohydrates, good for your teeth, diabetic safe, and wonderfully
sweet are the starting benefits of Stevia. Requests are coming in from
all over the world for growing, processing, and food application
systems to meet the huge demand that will be placed on the existing
and new suppliers of Stevia. We invite you to join us, to collaborate
on your projects in order to build up supply and production
capabilities. Stevia is about to change the world. Be a part of this
change.
Sincerely,
